Using the Web User Interface (WebUI)

 What's the WebUI?
  1. The WebUI is the heart of the AxiomAir system. It allows playback of locally stored music files, webradio stations or files shared on your local network. This is also where you enter network and system configurations and perform system updates.

 Accessing the WebUI
  1. Accessing the WebUI differs with each type of device you are using. Refer to your particular device below.

  2. Apple Devices

Accessing the WebUI is simple: Download the latest AxiomAir App from the App Store. Make sure your device is connected to the same network as the AxiomAir and the AxiomAir is turned on. Open the AxiomAir App to access the user interface.

If you prefer not to use the app, you can still access the WebUI from any web browser by entering http://axiomair-xxxxxx.local/ in the address bar where axiomair-xxxxxx is the speaker name.

  3. Android Devices

The easiest way to access the WebUI on an Android device is by downloading the free AxiomAir App from the Google Play Store. This app connects you directly to the WebUI

If you prefer not to use the app, you can still access the WebUI from your browser however you will need to know the IP address of your AxiomAir and enter it into your browser address bar.

You can find the IP address several ways:

    1. Hotspot: If the AxiomAir is in hotspot mode (not connected to a network) the default IP address is 192.168.211.1
    2. Sniffing: There are several utilities available to search for all devices connected to your network. For Android we recommend using Fing. Simply run the app and find the AxiomAir in the list of found devices and the IP address will be listed beside it.
    3. Router: If you have access to your router's user interface the IP address will be listed with the connected devices.
  4. Windows Devices

If you have Apple software installed on your PC you can simply enter http://axiomair.local/ into your browser

If the above method doesn't work you will need to know the IP address of your AxiomAir and enter it into your browser address bar.

You can find the IP address several ways:

    1. Hotspot: If the AxiomAir is in hotspot mode (not connected to a network) the default IP address is 192.168.211.1

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use my AxiomAir in other locations? (WiFi hotspot)

There are many places where you might want to enjoy music on your AxiomAir that are out of range of or lacking a useable WiFi network: at the dock, on the beach, on a camping trip, etc. To make sure that you can still enjoy your music, the AxiomAir has a built-in WiFi hotspot which automatically becomes active when out of range of your home network. This is signified by flashing blue and red LEDs. When the hotspot is available, your AxiomAir will appear as an available WiFi network on your device’s WiFi or network settings. To connect to the AxiomAir WiFi hotspot, simply join the AxiomAir-xxxxxx network. On iOS devices, a Safari window will automatically open to our WebUI. Tap “Cancel” in the top right corner and a pop-up will appear. Tap “Use Without Internet” and then close the web page. Once connected you will be able to play music using the same method used when you were connected to your home network.

How do I add a web radio station?
  1.  Using the WebUI go to the Browse tab and select WEBRADIO.
  2. Click the bar icon () beside My Web Radios and select +Add web radio
  3. Enter a name of your choice in the Name field
  4. Enter the URL of the radio stream into the URL field. The URL can be a a direct stream link or a M3U or PLS remote file.
  5. Please note that the URL must direct to the music stream itself, not to the radio stations website or online player. For more information please see the "Where do I Find The Link to My Favorite Web Radio Station" FAQ
Where do I find the link to my favorite web radio station?

There is a bit of a trick to finding the correct link for some webradio stations. If you try to use the link from a web browser live player it will not work. What you need to search for are direct streaming links. Almost all streaming stations have them, but sometimes they are buried in a far off section of the station's web page! You want a streaming link that ends in either M3U or PLS. If the link you find has one of those extensions but still won't play, check to see if the beginning of the URL is http:// or https://. I have found that sometimes changing from https to http will get the link to work.

There are many online sites available that catalogue web radio stream URLs. Some examples are vTunner and Internet-Radio

How to use a wired device

If you’d like to use an audio source with your AxiomAir that does not have wireless capability, your AxiomAir has both front and rear 3.5mm analog input jacks signified by the Analogue Input icon. To use the analog input, simply connect your source to one of the analog input jacks with an appropriate cable. Open a web browser and enter axiomair.local/ in the address bar (or name.local/ if you have renamed your AxiomAir). On Android devices, open the AxiomAir app. In the top right corner of the page, tap or click on the gear icon. In the menu pop-up, click the check box beside Analog Input. The analog input will now be active and the volume can be controlled using the volume knob on the front of your AxiomAir.

(Note: if playback over AirPlay is started while in analog input mode, your AxiomAir will automatically switch off the analog input and begin playback of the AirPlay stream.)

How do I force my AxiomAir to shutdown?

Under normal circumstances you can turn your AxiomAir off either by the WebUI or the power button on the front.

  1. WebUI: Open the settings menu by clicking on the gear icon () in the upper right hand corner. Select TURN OFF and then click the Power Off button.
  2. Power Button: Press the power button located on the front of your AxiomAir for a brief moment and the AxiomAir will safely shutdown in about 30 seconds.

In the unlikely event that your AxiomAir becomes unresponsive and will not shut down using the above methods, you can force the system to shutdown by pushing and holding the power button until the green LED turns off. The power button must be pressed the entire duration until the green LED turns off. This can take over 30 seconds.

Axiom does not recommend disconnecting the power supply or batteries while the AxiomAir is on. Doing so may corrupt system memory or cause physical damage to the battery switching system.

How to reset an AxiomAir to the original factory settings when the WebUI can no longer be accessed
  • Plug a USB thumb drive into your PC and make sure that it is empty.
  • Create a file called factory_reset on the USB drive. The easiest way to do this is to open Windows File Explorer and navigate to the USB drive, right click, select New, then click on text document and name it factory_reset. The file will end in .txt which you should remove by right clicking on the factory_reset.txt file, rename, then remove the .txt in the file name.
  • Press the power button on the front of your AxiomAir to turn it off and wait until the green light goes out.
  • Unplug your Ethernet cable if you have one plugged into the AxiomAir.
  • Plug the USB stick into one of the free USB ports.
  • Press the power button to turn on the AxiomAir. After about 30 seconds you should hear the start-up sound.
  • Remove the USB drive and you should now be restored to the original factory settings.
  • You will need to go through the setup manual steps to put the AxiomAir onto your home network again.
